In January 2023, my exciting journey to Boston began. Thanks to your generous support, I had the unique opportunity to write my Master's thesis at one of the most prestigious universities in the world and gain unforgettable experiences. This stay was not only an enriching professional experience, but also strengthened my personality.
The first few days in the USA were characterized by a mixture of excitement and nervousness, as I was not only discovering a new country, but also a completely new culture. However, I soon felt overwhelmed by the openness and warmth of the local people. During my stay, I was lucky enough to meet many fascinating people, both locals and international students, who all brought their own unique knowledge and experiences.
The academic environment at Harvard University was simply inspiring. The opportunity to work with leading researchers in my field broadened my horizons immensely. The American higher education environment fostered a collaborative atmosphere where ideas were openly shared and everyone was encouraged to contribute their opinions. I felt encouraged to participate in discussions and present my own research, which boosted my confidence enormously.
Not only was I able to benefit within the university, but numerous opportunities also opened up outside the lecture hall. I attended professional conferences, workshops and lectures that broadened my knowledge and gave me the opportunity to meet leading figures in my field in person. These experiences encouraged me to broaden my horizons and explore new areas of research.
In addition to the academic part, the cultural experience in the USA was unforgettable. I had the opportunity to participate in various cultural events that helped me to better understand the American way of life. I enjoyed attending sporting events such as football, baseball and basketball and also experiencing traditional holidays such as the St. Patrick's Day Parade and the 4th of July fireworks and BBQ.
The hospitality of the local people and the variety of American cuisine made my stay even more enjoyable. Outside of my studies, I took the opportunity to travel to different cities and regions and explore the breathtaking landscapes of the USA, which left a deep impression on me.
This semester abroad not only helped me develop professionally, but also personally. The challenges I faced encouraged me to leave my comfort zone and face new situations with openness and courage. I learned to find my way in an intercultural environment and to improve my intercultural communication.
The experiences and memories I gained during my stay are invaluable and will stay with me for a lifetime. This semester abroad not only broadened my academic and professional perspectives, but also deepened my understanding of the world and its diversity.
